Renewal – out of darkness comes light. These dried flowers that had bloomed the previous summer still make a beautiful arrangment. They are paired with an empty shell, alluding to the transience of beauty while an Elephant Hawkmoth is a brightly coloured figure of the night. The small bunch of yellow narcissi speaks of spring, re-growth and renewal.

Like so many of my cards, this one is full of symbolism right down to its Chinese style vase which alludes to the Dutch Masters’ use of the exotic containers for their flower arrangments. They created bouquets that featured flowers from all the seasons. This is a form of homage to that practice but while the arrangement would traditionally show mostly flowers in bloom, this version shows fresh, spring flowers with those from a previous year.

Renewal – out of the darkness comes light. The combination of dead, dried flowers with blooms from Spring along with elements of day and night tell the story of life. The shell symbolising transcience brings together the fresh Spring flowers with the dried ones from a previous year. The bright narcissi, the colour of sunshine, are opposite the Elephant Hawkmoth an insect of the night.

The card is supplied with a matching white envelope and contained within a sealed, hygienic cello bag. All our cards are printed on sustainable 350gsm board by a printer just five miles from where the photograph is taken. We support local businesses whenever possible.
